More from the Museum of the History of Science

I found this museum on-line quite by accident before leaving California. The very day I was planning to be in Oxford they were having a 2:00 lecture on "The Compass and the Rule - How Geometry Changed Architecture" (with particular attention to Christopher Wren). I was able to park my car at the hostel and walk to town and find the museum in time to attend the walking lecture, which moved through a display area in the basement of the three-story museum. It was quite fascinating, but unfortunately I had not slept since Tuesday night when I slept in the truck at Barry's parents' house in Napa from after midnight until about 4am -- then the 11-hour flight beginning around noon in San Francisco and arriving in London at 7am Wednesday -- then a 50-mile drive up to Oxford from Heathrow in my lovely little manual four-door Peugot... so you will understand how I came to fall asleep standing up during the talk...oops.

As it turned out, due to inclement weather, we saved Wales for the conclusion of our trip and headed for York (northeastern England) after Stonehenge and Salisbury, so we got to go to Oxford together and Barry got to see the museum and take some pictures, two of which are shown here:

Note the dates: 1200 to 1500!!!
