One Flew Over the Eucalyptus Tree

Barry and I watched the movie Twilight (billed as a "romance" -- but certainly with a twist!) last night in Auburn (and enjoyed it!) then drove to Napa today to see his folks, younger brother (Lucas), sister (Ellen), and her husband (David).
On the way we stopped at Westwood Hills: "a heavily-wooded Napa City park. The park provides three miles of trails through beautiful groves of oak trees and grassy meadows, and affords expansive views of the city. The park includes benches and picnic tables near the parking lot and along the trails."
We hiked up a long hill amidst a large grove of eucalyptus trees and kept hearing the most curious bird call, but couldn't identify it....
until
we
saw.....
(It was rather elusive, and I am at the San Rafael computer which cannot download pictures, so I borrowed a picture of his favorite cousin.)
Anyway, it was a wonderfully undeveloped hillside park right in the city of Napa and we enjoyed some outside time before going to the house. (Where, if you can believe it, I did some raking and sweeping in the front area.)
We enjoyed pie and conversation for several hours, then made the drive to San Rafael on about 1/2 level energy....and watched, Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I did logic puzzles while we watched, so I could enjoy Johnny Depp's singing, but not take in the rather gruesome aspects of the musical. (We used a quick episode of "The Colbert Report" to erase the trauma and drama of Sweeney Todd.)
Tomorrow Barry goes back to work (here) and I will drive back to Rocklin and teach/tutor some Algebra II followed by Algebra I, then drive up to Grass Valley for the first overnight at Mom's in quite a while...looking forward to that.
It was great to see Chris, Rich, Shellie, Jeff, Andy, Alex, Mom, Gay, Janet, and Greg over the long weekend! Family is food for my soul.

I think that bird looks awesome. Maybe I should take inspiration from it and change my hairstyle...
